Handling & storage.
A practical guide to checking labels, storing research materials and keeping records.
Check the exact product
Storage instructions are material-specific. Use the label, supplier handling guide and safety data sheet for the exact product and formulation. Don’t transfer a condition from one peptide to another just because the names look similar.
Keep the material and its records together
On receipt, check the product and lot identifiers and record the supplier’s storage conditions. Give the material a clear location in your laboratory inventory. Keep the documentation accessible to everyone who may handle it.
Plan handling around the instructions
Supplier peptide guidance commonly addresses protection from contamination, light exposure and repeated freezing and thawing. The requirements for a dry material can differ from those for a solution. Use a product-specific laboratory procedure rather than a universal storage rule.
Before opening a container or changing its formulation, review the relevant handling information and your laboratory’s risk assessment.
Ask for missing storage details
Do not infer a storage temperature, shelf life or solvent from a catalogue title. Ask the supplier for written clarification and record that response alongside the product documentation.
